Both Kodak and Fuji have discontinued aps film or so it seems. So there are plenty of fancy aps film camera bargains out there to be had. I just picked up a Minolta Vectis S1 and lenses very cheap on our favourite auction site. By cheap I mean very cheap. How about a body and 3 lenses for under £22!
Finding aps film is another matter. Look on Amazon and some people are asking £50 per roll. Absolutely ludicrous. Boots sell their own brand 24 exposures for about £5, Kodak aps for about £6.50. They also have “holiday packs” of 5 rolls of Fuji Nexia for £9.99. Asda have twin packs for £4.87.
Processing isn’t really a problem. Boots, Jessops and Asda still work on aps. Asda even process and scan to a cd in an hour. 24 exposures for £2.97.
Below is my first film processed and scanned at Asda. The results are a little weird, colours are a bit hyper. I quite like them. They were all taken on the Vectis SLR with a 22-80 lens. It was a bright sunny hour in my garden. The first roll is nothing special, just to make sure everything works.
