Here is a growing list of my favourite apps and programs. In no particular order – enjoy.
GAMES
Astraware.com. I have loads and loads of games from Astraware. You will find a lot of brilliant and engaging puzzles and games here. My favourites include Bejewelled, Shape Shifter and Sudoku. The games have been ported to all the main mobile platforms, including Palm, WM, iPhone (iPod) and Symbian. They often have special offers and their own club which offers games at very good prices. Heartily recommended. Check the website here.
Blocked – iPhone (Touch) app store. Simple game play, drives me mad (in a good way).
ZenBound – iPhone(Touch) app store. Trying to wrap a string around strangely shaped blocks of wood, sounds strange but combined with a fantastic binaural soundtrack by Ghost Monkey, a relaxing treat.
SECURITY
EWallet – IliumSoftware. Security, Password Keeper, Password Generator. I have been a very long term user of eWallet way back to version 1 on my Hewlet Packard 320LX HPC. I have installed it on almost every machine I have, Palm, Windows ce (etc) and now my iPod Touch. I like the fact that it always just seems to work. Syncing via the desktop software has again just worked without problems, though at the moment I don’t sync my iPod. Find it at the app store or here.
SplashID – SplashData. Security, Password Keeper, Password Generator. If for some reason you don’t get on with eWallet, I can recommend SplashID as a close second. I think this works really well on Palm devices. I did have some sync issues on Windows ce at one point. Again this is now available for the iPod generation in the app store or here.
BOOKS
eReader – eReader.com. Palm, WM, iPhone, Symbian. Again I am a long term user of eReader. The books you buy are DRM protected though as this is linked to your payment details you can move the books from one device to another easily. The books can be bought on the eReader/fictionwise websites or over the air. There is a good choice available.
Stanza – iPhone (Touch) app store. A very good alternative to eReader on my iPod. There is as online catalogue for downloading directly to my iPod Touch. A really good selection of free books from several sources available.
